Key Features of the MicroPLB™
GPS Almanac Update
The MicroPLB™, Types GX and GXL, also have a special feature that allows the user to check GPS performance and update the internal (GPS satellite) almanac, if necessary, without special equipment. This special feature ensures the fastest possible GPS position acquisition during an emergency since one can easily perform this operation, if desired, before a planned trip.
MicroPLB™ will also operate correctly and efficiently without these pre-trip updates, but position acquisition in an emergency will take slightly longer, as is the normal case with most other beacons.
